Acne
Acne is the name given to the condition which involves an inflammation of the sebaceous glands which are attached to the hair follicles. Sebum from the glands drains into the top part of the follicle, then on to the skin's surface. Important aspects in the development of acne are a increase in the production of sebum, blockage of the escape of sebum from the gland. Blockage produces blackheads or whiteheads depending at which level it occurs. A red spot (papule)or pustule develops if inflammation is present. The most vulnerable areas are the face, upper back and chest where the sebaceous glands are concentrated.
Coping With Acne:
Keep the affected area clean, but do not wash the skin more than twice a day       (preferably just once at the end of the day if you are not wearing make-up) excessive washing may actually precipitate acne.
There is no reason not to wear make-up provided that you remove all traces of it at the end of each day, Choose a light cleaner, preferably a lotion, unperformed if your skin is sensitive, follow up with a mild toner (too much alcohol in a tonert may causes irritation and drying) preferably lightly medicated.
